Word of the Week: GIGABUTT
Me
I am a geek. There is no denying this fact. If you have met me, you more than likely considered me weird or... different, at least at first. And that's perfectly fine with me. Once you got to know me, I'm sure you got used to the strangeness and accepted me as normal, or as normal as geeks get anyway. I consider myself to be honest and true to my friends, and expect the same honesty in return. Among geeks though, this is usually not a problem.
Interests
I have many interests, most of which being... well... geeky of course. Have a list to enjoy:
- Calculators (I own too many)
- Watches (My watch never needs batteries or setting. How's that for geeky?)
- Computers (I need more of these)
- Linux (The operating system for the truly hardcore)
- Keyboarding (Everyone needs a little music)
- Oldschool chip tunes (Those sweet gameboy beats)
- Hacking (In the real sense. No crackers allowed!)
- Network "tinkering" (Frighteningly easy...)
- Progressive music (Mainstream is boring)
Linux
Linux is an amazing, free, open source operating system that is widely used in servers and high-reliability systems due to its stability and security. It is also used by hobbiests and programmers due to the code for the entire system being completely public. I use it personally because I was fed up with Windows, and after trying Macintosh, even OS X, I wanted more. I never felt like I was truly in control of the system I was running, and when problems would arise, I would typically be hard pressed to find an easy solution. Any problems that come about in Linux, however, I could figure out, because the tools for doing so were there and the insides could be exposed at my will. To me, this is how an operating system should be.
